ANTI-RACISM TRAINING FOR EDUCATORS
WORKSHOP

Our introductory workshop explores the importance of anti-racism in creating inclusive and culturally sustaining learning environments. We'll explore:

  • the different forms of racism and the role of power dynamics;

  • the impact of racism on our students and colleagues

  • strategies for identifying and addressing racism;

  • the role of self-reflection in the process of becoming more anti-racist;

This is an opportunity to uproot our inherited conditioning to identify its limitations, and impact, on our relationships - and reveal what's possible beyond our existing dynamics.

This workshop is designed for all staff within our educational system - ministries, districts, schools and teacher education programs. We know systems level change requires each of us to work together, learn from one another, and grow as learners.

EMBODYING
(DIS)COMFORT
WORKSHOP

Delve into the question of how we embody and recognize (dis)comfort. In this foundational workshop, Jas guides participants to examine the complex emotions that arise in the tensioned space between learning and unlearning. By exploring these feelings, we can develop a deeper understanding of our own biases and conditioning and learn to challenge them in meaningful ways. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the nuances of (dis)comfort and learn practical tools for navigating this space with greater awareness, compassion, and self-reflection. Note: this 3 hour introductory workshop is designed for staff at all levels.

The Lived Experience Workshop.

This workshop is designed for educators from racialized communities. Drawing on her lived experience and research, Jas introduces the concept of Interstitiality and how it offers a roadmap to understand our own experience and reimagine possibilities through the 'living root bridge' lens of strength, humility and hope. Contact us to find out more.

MENTORING CIRCLES FOR EDUCATORS
ONLINE MEETING

A space to connect with fellow educators across the province. Ask questions, share experiences, present challenges and explore your thoughts on how we can reimagine learning experiences in our communities.

Facilitated by Jas, this is an opportunity to build capacity, develop relationships, and reimagine what equity looks like in your work. We're co-creating a space to deepen our understanding of power dynamics and anti-oppressive practices - as we explore systems that can perpetuate inequity. We'll look at examples of where efforts have been made to center equity in practice and examine ways that we can implement some of these ideas in our own communities.

Format:    monthly online meeting

Location:  online (Canadian Educators)

Duration:  90 minutes
